Hulbuk Palace (Tajikistan)

Weather…

Hulbuk Fortress served as the capital of the Khuttal region between the 9th and 11th centuries, representing an outstanding example of medieval Central Asian architecture. Located in the Vose district of southern Tajikistan, the complex includes a royal palace, a citadel, and the remains of a once-thriving city. The architecture of Hulbuk is renowned for its intricate brickwork and elaborate gypsum carvings featuring geometric and floral motifs. Archaeological investigations have revealed a highly sophisticated heating system, water supply network, and drainage canals, demonstrating the high standard of living of the era's rulers. The palace was the administrative and cultural hub of the local dynasty before the city was devastated by Mongol incursions in the 13th century. In 2026, the site underwent significant reconstruction to showcase the monumental grandeur of the Samanid period. Today, the fortress houses a museum displaying artifacts such as ceramics, glassware, and coins discovered during excavations.
