Weather…

Piz da la Margna is a highly visible mountain peak in the Upper Engadine, standing at 3159 meters above sea level. Located at the southwestern end of Lake Sils in the canton of Graubünden, it marks the transition from the Bernina Range to the Bergell region. Geologically, the mountain is composed of gneiss and amphibolite from the Margna nappe, a complex tectonic unit of the Alps. Its striking profile dominates the Maloja Pass area, earning it the nickname 'Guardian of the Engadine.' The first recorded ascent took place on June 14, 1857, by J. J. Weilenmann. Today, Piz da la Margna is a popular destination for hikers in the summer and a challenging objective for ski mountaineers in the winter. The summit provides an unparalleled view of the Engadine lake plateau and the granite giants of Bergell, such as Piz Badile. In regional culture, it is regarded as one of the most aesthetic mountains, having inspired countless painters and photographers.
