💡 Tips
- Quinten is car-free and can only be reached by boat or on foot. Plan your journey with the Walensee boat service from Murg, Mols, or Weesen.
- Thanks to the mild climate, figs, kiwis, and other southern plants grow here. Pay attention to the lush gardens in the village.
- The village can be very popular on sunny weekends. For a quieter experience, we recommend visiting on a weekday.
- Wear good shoes, even if you are just exploring the village. The paths can be steep and the cobblestones uneven.
🍽 Food
The local white or red wine is a must-try. Enjoy a glass in one of the garden restaurants with a view of the lake.
Order freshly caught fish like 'Felchen' (whitefish) or 'Egli' (perch) in one of the village restaurants. A local delicacy.
Depending on the season, you might find desserts or even savory dishes made with local figs. Ask for the house specials.
🛍 Shopping · 🧘 Quiet spots
Buy a bottle of Quinten wine directly from the winemaker or in the small village shops to take home an authentic souvenir.
In the small shops, you can often find homemade jams, dried fruits, or pickled vegetables from the village gardens.
Leave the main path along the shore and explore the quiet, narrow alleys and paths behind the houses.
A short walk will lead you to this small, peaceful chapel, a place for quiet reflection.
Walk west from the main dock towards the 'Au' hamlet. This part of the village is often quieter and features a nice view back towards Quinten.
Water temperature…
Quinten is regarded as the 'Riviera of Lake Walen'. The village lies on the northern shore, directly at the foot of the steep Churfirsten cliffs. Since there is no road connection, Quinten is entirely car-free and accessible only by boat from Murg or Weesen, or via steep hiking trails. This isolation has preserved the village's original character. The sheltered position on the southern rock slopes creates an extraordinary microclimate. Plants usually found south of the Alps thrive here: figs, kiwis, grapes, and even palms flourish in the gardens. Viticulture has a long tradition, with Blauburgunder (Pinot Noir) being the primary variety, ripening perfectly in the sun-drenched locations. The village consists of two parts, Quinten and Au, linked by a short walk. For tourists, there are cozy inns serving fresh fish from the lake and local wine. Hikers often use the village as a stopover on the shore path between Weesen and Walenstadt. The best time to visit is spring during the blooming season or autumn for the grape harvest. Quinten is an excellent spot for those seeking absolute peace and untouched nature.
