Getting there
Visitors travel by motorized canoe from the eastern edge of Makira to reach Santa Ana island, followed by a relatively short guided walk inland to the rare volcanic lake.
Best season
The generally calmer seas between June and September provide the best conditions for the boat crossing, and the drier weather makes the jungle trail less slippery.
