Destrnik is a rural municipality in the Slovenske gorice region of northeastern Slovenia. The settlement is situated on a ridge that features expansive views across the Drava Plain and Ptujsko polje. Historically, the area is deeply connected to viticulture and farming, which is evident in the layout of the cultural landscape. The most striking building is the Church of St. Urban, dedicated to the patron saint of winemakers, with its current form mostly dating back to the 18th century. Another landmark is the Maister Tower, an observation tower erected in honor of the Slovenian general Rudolf Maister. The municipality actively promotes the preservation of ethnological monuments, including traditional thatched-roof farmhouses. Today, Destrnik serves as an essential local hub for the surrounding scattered settlements and maintains strong wine-cultural traditions.
