The Port of Bratislava is by far the largest and strategically most important inland port in Slovakia, acting as the country's central gateway to global maritime trade. Situated on the Danube, one of Europe's most vital waterways, the port directly connects Slovakia to the ports of the North Sea (via the Rhine-Main-Danube Canal) and the Black Sea. The massive facility consists of a historic winter harbor and a modern commercial port. It serves as a crucial trimodal logistics hub, seamlessly integrating river, rail, and road transport networks. Annually, the port handles millions of tons of bulk cargo, such as iron ore, coal, and grain, as well as petrochemical products from the nearby Slovnaft refinery.
