Blue Church
The Blue Church (Church of St. Elizabeth) in Bratislava is an Art Nouveau building constructed between 1907 and 1908 according to plans by Hungarian architect Ödön Lechner. It is dedicated to Saint Elizabeth of Hungary. The church is known for its spirited blue facade and blue majolica roof tiles. The ground plan is oval, with a slender tower on the side. The interior is also dominated by blue tones, with floral decorations and stained glass windows. The church was consecrated in 1908. It is one of the most characteristic Art Nouveau churches in Europe. The tower height is 36 meters. The church is located in the Nové Mesto district. It is still used for services and is a popular tourist destination. The combination of Hungarian Art Nouveau and folk art motifs makes the church unique.
