Mochovce Nuclear Power Plant (Slovakia)

Weather…

The Mochovce Nuclear Power Plant is a critical backbone of Slovakia's energy supply, located in the southern part of the country near the town of Levice. Construction of this strategically vital facility began back in 1981, but the first two Soviet-designed pressurized water reactor units (VVER-440) were not commissioned until the late 1990s. A historic milestone was reached with the long-awaited commissioning of the third reactor unit in 2022, while the construction of the fourth unit continues to progress. With its expansion, the power plant makes an immense contribution to the decarbonization of the Slovak economy and significantly strengthens the nation's energy independence. The facility provides reliable, carbon-free electricity that powers millions of households and Slovakia's thriving industries day and night, cementing its status as an indispensable asset to the national grid.
