Arboretum Mlyňany (Slovakia)

Weather…

Founded in 1892 by Count István Ambrózy-Migazzi, the Mlyňany Arboretum is one of the most significant dendrological centers in Central Europe. Covering an area of 67 hectares, this scientific institution houses more than 2,300 different species of evergreen and deciduous woody plants from all over the world. Originally, the focus was on acclimatizing Southern European and East Asian flora to the climatic conditions of Slovakia, which resulted in the establishment of impressive exotic forest stands. The historic core of the park is dominated by a neoclassical mansion, around which extensive collections of Japanese, Chinese, and Korean plants are grouped. Today, the arboretum is managed by the Slovak Academy of Sciences and serves as an essential laboratory for botanical research and biodiversity conservation. The meticulously curated paths lead visitors through a living botanical journey around the world, which is particularly spectacular during the rhododendron bloom in spring.
