The Kráľová Nature Reserve is located near Kráľová pri Senci and serves as a vital refuge for water and marsh birds in the Danube Lowland. Established in 1983, it protects the remnants of riparian forests and wetlands along the Čierna voda river. Spanning approximately 11 hectares, the reserve is a significant nesting site and a key stopover for migratory bird species. The vegetation primarily consists of willow and poplar groves, as well as extensive reed beds, providing convenient conditions for birds like the grey heron and various species of ducks. The hydrological conditions of the site are closely linked to the regional groundwater levels, which dictate the stability of the ecosystem. In addition to its ornithological importance, the area is home to rare amphibians and aquatic insects. This protected site acts as a critical ecological corridor within the heavily cultivated agricultural landscape of southern Slovakia.
