💡 Tips
- Both Slovak and Hungarian are widely spoken here. A friendly 'Jó napot' (Good day) alongside 'Dobrý deň' goes a long way.
- Visit the Neo-Gothic Esterházy Palace on a sunny afternoon to fully enjoy a walk in its expansive surrounding park.
- If you plan to visit the thermal baths (Galandia), bring your own towel and flip-flops to save on rental fees.
- The landscape is extremely flat, making it good for casual cycling. Renting a bike is a great way to explore the outskirts.

Galanta, located in the fertile heart of the Danubian Lowland (Podunajská nížina) in southwestern Slovakia, is a dynamic city with a strong economic presence and a deeply rooted history. For centuries, the fate of the city was closely tied to the powerful Hungarian Esterházy noble family. The impressive Neo-Gothic Castle (Neogotický kaštieľ), which is being gradually and dedicatedly restored today and features a magnificent English park, as well as the smaller Renaissance castle, still bear witness to the splendor of this dynasty. Galanta gained fame in the musical world through the composer Zoltán Kodály, whose "Dances of Galánta" immortalized the traditional Roma melodies of the region. Today, supported by large investments in the electronics industry, Galanta is a modern center featuring a popular thermal bathing complex, the Galandia Thermal Center.
