The Ibar is a significant river flowing through Montenegro, Kosovo, and Central Serbia, eventually joining the West Morava near Kraljevo. With a total length of approximately 272 kilometers, it is famous for its pretty and historically rich gorge, often referred to as the 'Valley of the Kings.' This name stems from the numerous medieval monasteries built along its banks, including Studenica, Gradac, and Žiča. A prominent landmark along the river is the Maglič fortress, perched on a steep rock high above the water. Geographically, the Ibar separates the Kopaonik Mountain from other massifs in its southern part. The river is extensively used for energy production but also features sections good for rafting and kayaking. The lower reaches near Kraljevo constitute an important agricultural area and a hub for local industry.
