Water temperature…
This variant of Henrique lies in the western Lembá district and is distinct from the similarly named mountain village in the midlands: here it is a highland hamlet on the steep, often mist-shrouded slopes above Neves. The climate is significantly cooler and damper than on the coast, making the region one of the best zones for preserving traditional medicinal-plant knowledge. Local mestres de raiz, root masters, cultivate plants such as pau-três, mãe-de-mato and bom-pé, used in folk medicine against fever, digestive disorders and skin problems. Smallholders also tend specialty coffee in tiny shade plots whose beans are sold directly to roasteries in São Tomé and Lisbon. Trails climb from the village to the western watershed ridge, offering spectacular views of Neves Bay. Henrique (Lembá) is thus a favored destination for ecotourists wishing to combine botany, gentle tourism and rural authenticity.
