Rusizi Port (Rwanda)

Weather…

The Port of Rusizi, at the southern end of Lake Kivu, is another strategic point for domestic and cross-border trade. It connects Rwanda with the city of Bukavu in the Democratic Republic of Congo, which lies just across the lake. The port is crucial for the trade of cement, food products, and other goods between the two countries. Like the port of Rubavu, Rusizi has also been upgraded to improve its capacity and efficiency. The modernization is part of the plan to create a reliable maritime transport route on Lake Kivu. This is intended to lower transport costs and boost trade in the Great Lakes region. The Port of Rusizi contributes to the economic development of the Western Province by creating jobs and fostering commercial activities. It is an essential element of Rwanda's efforts to strengthen its position as a regional trade and logistics hub.
