💡 Tips
- Book your tickets for the Ilya Repin "Penates" Estate-Museum well in advance, as it is a highly popular day-trip destination from St. Petersburg.
- The water in the Gulf of Finland is very shallow and warms up quickly in summer, but the breeze can be cool; bring a light sweater.
- The easiest and most scenic way to arrive is by taking the suburban train (elektrichka) from St. Petersburg's Finlyandsky station.
- Mosquitoes can be very active in the surrounding pine forests during summer evenings, so carrying bug repellent is highly recommended.

Repino is located on the easy on the eye coastline of the Gulf of Finland, situated within the Kurortny District of St. Petersburg. The settlement was named in honor of the famous Russian painter Ilya Repin, who lived and worked here; his former estate, Penaty, remains a widely visited museum today. Since the late 19th century, the area has served as a favored summer retreat for the St. Petersburg elite and artists, known for its fragrant pine forests and fresh sea air. The coastline is characterized by fine, white sandy beaches and gradually deepening, shallow waters that warm up pleasantly during the peak summer months. The most notable coastal stretch is the Чудный (Chudny) beach, which awaits visitors with excellent infrastructure, sun loungers, and beach volleyball courts. The seaside promenade is absolutely convenient for long, romantic walks, particularly during the famous northern white nights. The local restaurants offer luxury-level seafood dishes, Caucasian shashlik, and traditional Russian cuisine, often accompanied by magnificent panoramic views of the sea. Repino is also excellent in terms of transportation: it is comfortably reachable from St. Petersburg by suburban trains or by car in just under an hour.
