Klinc Mountain, often considered part of the Nidže massif on the border between North Macedonia and Greece, is a remote region of great ecological and historical significance. The landscape is defined by alpine meadows, deep coniferous forests, and prominent rock formations shaped during Pleistocene glaciations. Geologically, the massif consists of metamorphic rocks and granite, resulting in a rugged, dissected topography. The region is well-known for its role during World War I, particularly the battles along the Salonica Front, remains of which are still visible in the landscape today. Biologically, the area provides a habitat for the golden eagle and the rare Balkan chamois. The region's isolation has helped maintain the natural succession and original ecosystems largely undisturbed, making Klinc a valuable research area for alpine ecology.
