The area combines the rugged beauty of the Moroccan north with first-class seaside recreation opportunities. The proximity to the Strait of Gibraltar provides panoramic views as far as Spain on clear days. The heart of the region is its memorable sandy beaches. The Plage Sidi Kankouch (also called Plage Sidi Qanqouch) is characterized by its fine, golden sand and crystal-clear water. During the summer months, the beach is a popular meeting place for local families and international tourists who come here to swim, sunbathe, and relax. In the vicinity of the beach, there are numerous cafes and restaurants offering delicious Moroccan dishes, especially fresh seafood tagines and mint tea. The easiest way to get there is via the scenic coastal road from Tangier, which is well-maintained and easy to navigate.
