Robert Schuman Building (Luxembourg)

Weather…

The Robert Schuman Building, also located on the Kirchberg plateau, is an important seat of the European Parliament in Luxembourg. Named after Robert Schuman, one of the founding fathers of the European Union, the building mainly houses the Parliament's General Secretariat. Thousands of officials and employees work here, responsible for the administration, translation and organisation of parliamentary work. The original Schuman building was opened in 1973, but over the years the complex has been considerably extended to meet the growing demands of Parliament. Although the Parliament's plenary sessions are mainly held in Strasbourg and committee meetings in Brussels, Luxembourg is the official seat of the Secretariat. The building is an important administrative hub and a symbol of the trinational division of labour of the EU institutions. It underlines Luxembourg's historic role as one of the three capitals of the European Union.
