Mondercange is located in southwestern Luxembourg within the "Land of the Red Rocks" in the Esch-sur-Alzette canton. The municipality has a long history, dating back to its first recorded mention in 965. Unlike many neighboring towns, Mondercange was less directly shaped by iron ore mining and retained its rural character for a longer period. Today, the town is a significant sports hub; it hosts the headquarters of the Luxembourg Football Federation (FLF) and one of the country's few go-karting tracks. The municipality comprises the villages of Mondercange, Bergem, Pontpierre, and Foetz, with Foetz being a well-known regional commercial and industrial center. Geographically, the town lies in a gently rolling landscape characterized by modern residential developments and excellent access to the A4 motorway. Its proximity to Esch-sur-Alzette makes Mondercange a popular residential choice for those working in the industrial region or at the University of Luxembourg's Belval campus.
