Casino Luxembourg

The Casino Luxembourg, Forum d'art contemporain is a leading centre for contemporary art, housed in one of the city's most distinctive buildings. Built in 1882 by architect Pierre Kemp, the building originally served as the 'Casino Bourgeois', a cultural and social meeting place for the city's upper class. It was never a gambling casino, but a venue for concerts, balls, and readings. The splendid, historicist architecture with its rich ornamentation still bears witness to this glamorous past. Since 1996, the Casino has been dedicated exclusively to contemporary art. It has no permanent collection, but functions as a 'Kunsthalle', focusing on temporary exhibitions by international and Luxembourgish artists. With its experimental programme, which includes workshops, conferences, and performances, the Casino is a dynamic place that encourages reflection on current artistic trends and promotes dialogue between artists and the public.
