Eisch River

The Eisch is a 49-kilometer-long river in western Luxembourg and eastern Belgium, most famous for the 'Valley of the Seven Castles.' It originates near Sélange in Belgium and flows into the Alzette at Mersch. Along its scenic course lie historical landmarks such as the castles of Koerich, Septfontaines, Ansembourg, Hollenfels, Schoenfels, and Mersch. Geologically, the region is characterized by Luxembourg sandstone, which forms steep cliffs and deeply incised valleys.
