Vokė Valley (Lithuania)

Weather…

The Vokė Valley near Trakų Vokė is an easy on the eye riverine landscape situated between Vilnius and Trakai, defined by the course of the Vokė River. The river has carved its path deep into the terrain, creating a diverse relief with gentle slopes and fertile floodplains. The valley is most famous for the Trakų Vokė estate, a magnificent 19th-century residence of the Tiškevičiai family, which is harmoniously integrated into the natural surroundings. An extensive park, designed by the renowned landscape architect Édouard André, utilizes the valley's topography to feature ponds and strategic viewpoints. Geologically, the valley was formed by glacial meltwaters that breached the moraine hills at the end of the last ice age. The interplay of historical architecture and the natural river landscape makes the valley a culturally and ecologically significant area. Today, the Vokė Valley is a popular spot for recreation and a prime example of noble estate gardening in Lithuania.
