Priedaine Hill (Priedaines kalns) is a prominent elevation on the right bank of the Daugava River near Krāslava and a key component of the 'Daugavas loki' Nature Park. The hill rises steeply above the river, offering one of Latvia's most famous panoramic views of the Daugava bends and the town of Krāslava. Geologically, Priedaine is a glacial accumulation form consisting of a mixture of sand, gravel, and clay, sharply defined by post-glacial river valley erosion. A 32-meter-high wooden observation tower stands at the summit, one of the tallest of its kind in Latvia. Historically, the area surrounding the hill was a significant settlement site at the boundary between the Latgale and Sēlija regions. The hill's flora is dominated by pine forests, a fact reflected in its name (Latvian 'priede' means pine).
