Grigorievka

Grigorievka is a spirited village on the northern shore of Issyk-Kul, best known for the spectacular gorge of the same name (also called Chon-Ak-Suu). This gorge is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful and lush in the entire region. A crystal-clear mountain river winds through the valley, which is flanked by dense spruce forests and towering rock faces. A major highlight is the series of three mountain lakes situated at various elevations within the gorge, accessible by hiking or horseback. In the summer months, the gorge becomes a popular destination for day-trippers and campers. Yurts are set up throughout the valley, where visitors can enjoy traditional Kyrgyz dishes such as Kymys (fermented mare's milk) or freshly grilled shashlik. The area is also famous for eagle hunting demonstrations and the chance to take photographs with these majestic birds. The village of Grigorievka provides good accessibility and simple guesthouses for travelers who wish to stay longer in nature. The combination of lakeside and mountain experiences makes the location very attractive. The best time to visit is from June to September when nature is in full bloom. Arrival from Cholpon-Ata is easy by public transport or private car.
