Kinkon Falls is located about 15 kilometers from Pita and gives one of Guinea's most dramatic sights. The Kokoulo River plunges into a narrow, deep gorge flanked by steep rock walls. A unique feature is the hydroelectric dam built in the 1960s, which is harmoniously integrated into the landscape and provides electricity to part of the region. There are several viewpoints for visitors to observe the massive fall and the rainbows that frequently form in the mist. The surrounding landscape is convenient for short hikes and has spectacular photo opportunities, especially when the sun is low and bathes the rocks in warm light. It is a place that combines human engineering with raw natural power. Because the site is partially secured due to the power station, access is easier than for many other waterfalls in the area. However, caution is advised near the unsecured cliff edges. In the surroundings, one can observe local life in mountain villages where coffee and cocoa are grown. The best time to visit is from July to December, when the water flow is at its peak.
