Oracle of Dodona (Greece)

Weather…

The Oracle of Dodona in Epirus is regarded as the oldest oracular center of ancient Greece, with roots stretching back to the 2nd millennium BC. Dedicated to Zeus and the goddess Dione, this sanctuary was famous for its unique and natural methods of divination. Priests and priestesses would interpret the rustling of leaves from a sacred oak tree, the flight of doves, and the resonance of bronze cauldrons to reveal the will of the gods. During the Archaic and Classical periods, Dodona stood alongside Delphi as a premier spiritual hub of the Hellenic world. In the 3rd century BC, under the reign of King Pyrrhus, the sanctuary was enhanced with monumental buildings, including a massive theatre that could accommodate 18,000 spectators, making it one of the largest in Greece. Despite the eventual rise of Delphi's political prestige, Dodona remained a vital destination for divine guidance.
