Brusje is situated on the hills of Hvar island, about 6 km from Hvar town. The village was founded in the 16th century as a settlement for shepherds and farmers. Today, it is primarily known for lavender cultivation and the production of high-quality lavender oil, giving the area a unique fragrance during the blooming season in June and July. The local architecture is characterized by rustic stone houses and narrow alleys that preserve the authentic spirit of Dalmatia. In the center stands the Church of Saint George (crkva sv. Jurja) from the 17th century. From the heights surrounding the village, there is an impressive panoramic view of the Brač channel and neighboring islands. Visitors come here to enjoy peace away from the bustling tourist centers. The surroundings are excellent for hiking and cycling on the old road to Stari Grad. In local households, visitors can taste homemade honey, olive oil, and wine directly from the producers.
