Sveta Nedjelja is located beneath the highest peak of Hvar Island, Sveti Nikola. The village is world-renowned for the production of Zlatan Plavac, one of Croatia's finest red wines. The vineyards here slope down to the sea at an extreme angle, requiring manual labor but giving the grapes a unique intensity. The coast at Sveta Nedjelja is wild and beautiful. Below the village, there are small pebble beaches and hidden coves with crystal-clear water. A special feature is the cave above the village, which houses an abandoned Augustinian monastery. For rock climbers, the location is a paradise, as the steep limestone cliffs right by the sea offer some of the best routes in the Mediterranean. Access to the village is via a single-lane tunnel near Pitve, making the journey an adventure in itself. In Sveta Nedjelja, there is a small harbor and several excellent waterfront restaurants serving fresh fish and, of course, the local wine. Those seeking peace and loving the dramatic combination of mountains and sea will be fascinated by this place. The sunsets here are among the most beautiful in the entire Adriatic.
