Korup National Park (Cameroon)

Weather…

Korup National Park is an ancient forest ecosystem that has survived for over 60 million years. This incredible age has allowed it to develop an exceptionally high level of endemism. The park protects vast tracts of pristine rainforest and is a major center for scientific research, particularly concerning plant and primate diversity. The park is home to a quarter of all primate species found in Africa, including the endangered drill, chimpanzees, and red colobus monkeys. One of the most famous landmarks within the park is the Mana suspension bridge, which spans a wide river and serves as the main pedestrian gateway into the dense jungle. Hiking trails range from short day walks to multi-day trekking expeditions. The park headquarters is located in the town of Mundemba, where visitors must arrange permits and guides. Reaching Mundemba requires a rough road trip from Limbe or Buea. Due to the extreme rainfall in this region, visiting is highly recommended only during the dry season, which lasts from December to February.
