Lolodorf holds a unique place in Cameroonian history, originally established as a German colonial administrative and trading post in the late 19th century. Remnants of its colonial past can still be seen in the architecture of the old Catholic mission and administrative buildings. Today, it attracts visitors interested in history and those looking to respectfully engage with the indigenous Bagyeli (Pygmy) communities living in the surrounding forests. The town is surrounded by the Ngovayang Massif, characterized by thick rainforests and rugged terrain, making it a rugged destination for hiking and botanical exploration. The dense jungle environment is home to diverse bird species and medicinal plants. Local food heavily features forest products, including bush mango, wild nuts, and traditional cassava dishes. Situated on the road connecting Kribi to Ebolowa, it features a scenic but sometimes challenging drive through the forest canopy. The best time for exploration is the dry season, spanning December to February, which minimizes the risk of washouts on the local dirt roads.
