Stanari is an emerging municipality near Doboj, primarily known for its massive lignite deposits and a state-of-the-art thermal power plant. Originally a vital railway hub on the Doboj-Banja Luka line, the town experienced a significant economic boom with the construction of the region's first privately funded power plant. The Stanari Thermal Power Plant, which began commercial operations in 2016, is considered one of the most efficient and environmentally friendly coal plants in the Western Balkans. Geographically, Stanari is located in the gently rolling valley of the Ukrina River, characterized by fertile farmland and forest areas. The municipality was re-established in 2014 following a local referendum, after having been part of the city of Doboj for decades. Besides the energy sector, agriculture continues to play an important role in the lives of the local population. Infrastructure is constantly being expanded to meet the demands of the growing industrial sector. Today, Stanari is a symbol of industrial transformation and regional autonomy in Republika Srpska.
