Stanari Thermal Power Plant (Bosnia and Herzegovina)

Weather…

The Stanari power plant represents a turning point in Bosnian energy history, as it is the first large, purely privately financed thermal power plant project in the Western Balkans since the collapse of Yugoslavia. Realized by the EFT Group (Energy Financing Team) and financed partly by Chinese development banks, the facility came online in 2016 near the city of Doboj. Unlike the older Yugoslav facilities, Stanari was built by the Chinese Dongfang Electric Corporation using modern technologies that comply with strict EU guidelines for industrial emissions. The power plant is directly connected to its own open-pit coal mine, which minimizes operating costs and guarantees high efficiency. It reliably supplies base-load energy, the majority of which is exported to neighboring European countries.
