Semberija Agricultural Region (Bosnia and Herzegovina)

Weather…

The Semberija plain, stretching majestically between the Sava River in the north and the Drina River in the east, is the undisputed agricultural heart of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In this region, dominated by the city of Bijeljina, the extremely fertile soils and temperate continental climate have enabled intensive, large-scale agricultural production. Semberija is often rightfully referred to as the 'granary' of the country, as the largest quantities of wheat and corn are grown here. In addition to grain cultivation, the region is also a center for vegetable growing, particularly cabbage, peppers, and tomatoes, which are cultivated both in open fields and in extensive greenhouse complexes. The local food industry, including numerous mills, vegetable processors, and meat producers, relies almost entirely on the rich harvest of Semberija.
