Šekovići is a peaceful and highly tranquil small town in the northeastern region of Republika Srpska, stretching picturesquely in a deeply forested river valley directly along the Drinjača River. Historically, the town gained immense significance due to the fact that the medieval Serbian Orthodox Papraća Monastery and the highly impressive Lovnica Monastery are located in its immediate vicinity, both effectively serving as outstanding spiritual and cultural centers for the entire region. Economically, Šekovići was an important and bustling industrial site during the Yugoslav era, but after the devastating war, the economic focus shifted drastically toward robust forestry, agriculture, and small businesses. The surrounding green, hilly landscape provides totally good conditions for extensive livestock breeding and forestry management. Despite facing severe demographic challenges, the municipality successfully and proudly preserves its profound historical heritage.
