Chele La Pass
Chele La Pass is the highest motorable point in Bhutan, situated at an impressive elevation of 3,988 meters above sea level. It serves as the primary connection between the Paro and Haa valleys, offering a scenic and winding route through lush forests. On clear days, the pass provides spectacular views of the sacred Mount Jomolhari and Jichu Drake. The area is marked by thousands of colorful prayer flags fluttering in the strong winds, intended to spread peace and blessings. The landscape is characterized by alpine vegetation, famously home to rare wildflowers like the Blue Poppy and various rhododendron species that bloom in the spring. Several meditation huts and the Kila Nunnery are located on the slopes just below the pass. Chele La is not only a strategic transport route but also a prime destination for hikers and photographers seeking the rugged beauty of the high Himalayas.
