Weather…

Mahasthangarh is the oldest known urban archaeological site in Bangladesh, situated on the banks of the Karatoya River in Bogra District. The site dates back to at least the 3rd century BCE and once served as Pundravardhana, the capital of the Pundra region. The area is enclosed by massive fortification walls that surround a rectangular territory of about 1500 by 1370 meters. Archaeological excavations have revealed remains from various eras, including the Maurya, Gupta, and Pala periods. Some of the most significant finds include Buddhist monasteries, Hindu temples, and numerous terracotta objects that provide clues about its ancient inhabitants. Its strategic location by the river facilitated trade and made it a major administrative and religious center. Today, Mahasthangarh houses a museum displaying an impressive collection of artifacts spanning over two millennia of history. The site remains a vital location for studying the ancient history of South Asia and continues to attract pilgrims and history enthusiasts.
