Kletsk is one of the oldest settlements in Belarus, located in the Minsk Region along the banks of the Lan River. First chronicled in 1127, it played a vital role as a defensive outpost within the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. The city gained historical prominence in 1506 following the Battle of Kletsk, where Lithuanian forces achieved a major victory over the Crimean Tatars. In the 16th century, Kletsk became part of the vast estates of the Radziwill family, who oversaw its growth for several centuries. Notable architectural sites include the 17th-century Resurrection Church, formerly a Dominican monastery, and the historic building of the Kletsk Yeshiva. Although much of the city was damaged during World War II, several heritage sites have been preserved and restored. Today, Kletsk serves as a regional agricultural hub, maintaining its connection to its medieval roots through local museums and preserved monuments.
