Water temperature…
Bad Hofgastein is situated in the widest and sunniest part of the Gastein Valley. In contrast to the steep Bad Gastein, this town has a more spacious, flatter center with an inviting pedestrian zone. Its heart is the Alpentherme Gastein, one of Europe's most modern wellness facilities, featuring thermal water lakes and an extensive sauna area. The Schlossalm-Angertal-Stubnerkogel ski area is directly accessible from the town and provides wide, enjoyable runs. In summer, the Schlossalm transforms into a family mountain with via ferratas, circular hiking trails, and reservoirs. Bad Hofgastein is also known for its spa offerings based on Gastein thermal water, which is particularly helpful for rheumatic complaints. In the restaurants, Gastein farming specialties like Schlipfkrapfen are served. The town is easily accessible via the Gastein federal highway or by train. The best time to visit for wellness is year-round, for winter sports enthusiasts from January to March, and for hikers from June to September. Due to its valley location, the climate here is milder than in the rear part of the valley.
