Chascomús
Chascomús is a traditional city located just 120 km south of Buenos Aires, renowned for its large lagoon, which is a central feature of the regional landscape. The Laguna de Chascomús is part of a system of interconnected lakes and is highly popular for water sports, including sailing, windsurfing, kitesurfing, and recreational pejerrey fishing. The city has a rich historical heritage, highlighted by the Capilla de los Negros, an 1862 chapel built by freed slaves, and the Casa de Casco, a remarkably preserved 19th-century residence. The scenic perimeter road around the lagoon, approximately 30 km long, is handy for cycling or driving, offering numerous spots for picnics. Easily reachable by car via National Route 2 or by train from Buenos Aires, it serves as an excellent escape from the capital's bustle. It is animated year-round, but summer and spring weekends are especially lively with tourists enjoying the waterfront activities.
