Mount Uquien (Venezuela)

Weather…

Mount Uquien is a remote and little-explored mountain in the Neblina massif on the border between Venezuela and Brazil. As part of the Parima-Tapirapecó mountain range, it represents a significant geological formation of the Guiana Shield. The region is known for its extremely high rainfall, which leads to the formation of numerous waterfalls and torrents. The vegetation on the slopes of Uquien transitions from dense tropical rainforest in lower elevations to specialized mountain ecosystems on the summit plateau. Due to its inaccessibility, Mount Uquien remains a refuge for rare animal and plant species that have long been displaced in other parts of South America. Scientific research in this area often requires elaborate planning and the use of aerial support. The cultural significance for the indigenous Yanomami peoples living in the surrounding valleys is deeply rooted in their mythology. Geomorphologically, the mountain is characterized by steep cliffs and deeply incised valleys.
