Casupá is a small town in the Florida Department of Uruguay, founded on October 25, 1908. It is located in the southeastern part of the department, surrounded by a landscape of hills and streams. The town owes its name to the nearby Casupá stream. Its development was significantly influenced by the construction of the railway line connecting Montevideo to Melo; the train station, inaugurated in 1912, became the nucleus of urban growth. The economy of Casupá is traditionally agrarian, with livestock farming and, to a lesser extent, cereal cultivation and forestry being the mainstays. The town serves as a local hub for the surrounding rural areas, providing basic services. A notable feature of the region is the Rincón de Casupá, a protected area known for its rich native flora and fauna. Casupá is also known for its annual 'Festival de la Forestal' (Forestry Festival), highlighting the importance of the forestry industry and local culture. Though small, Casupá is an example of a close-knit community deeply rooted in Uruguay's rural traditions.
