Yahotyn is a city with a rich historical heritage in Kyiv Oblast, about 100km east of the capital. The town gained prominence in the 18th century under Kyrylo Razumovsky, the last Hetman of the Zaporozhian Cossacks, who built a magnificent palace and an extensive park here. Although the original palace has not survived, the Yahotyn Park, with its ancient trees, ponds, and romantic ruins, is still the heart of the city. An important attraction is the Yahotyn Art Gallery, which houses an impressive collection of Ukrainian and Russian art. The city is also connected to the life of poet Taras Shevchenko, who visited the area. The local cuisine features authentic Ukrainian dishes. Yahotyn is easily accessible by train or bus from Kyiv. The best time to visit is late spring and summer to enjoy the park and the region's natural beauty.
