Uzyn is a city located in the Bila Tserkva Raion of Kyiv Oblast in northern Ukraine. Its modern history is inextricably linked to military aviation. During the Cold War, Uzyn Air Base was a major strategic airfield for the Soviet Long Range Aviation, home to Tu-95 'Bear' strategic bombers capable of carrying nuclear weapons. After the dissolution of the USSR, the base was transferred to Ukraine and eventually repurposed, with the heavy bombers decommissioned. Today, the city of Uzyn is a relatively quiet administrative center for the local area, slowly transitioning from its military past. While not a primary tourist destination, it features a unique look into Soviet military history for interested visitors. The city is accessible by road from Kyiv, about 80 km to the south. The local economy is now primarily based on agriculture and some remaining industrial facilities.
