Svirzh Castle in the Lviv Oblast is one of Ukraine's most scenic castles, situated on a hill and surrounded by lakes and marshes. First mentioned in 1484, the castle was originally owned by the Svirzhsky family before being extensively rebuilt and fortified by the Cetner family in the 17th century. Its current appearance blends Renaissance elements with massive defensive structures, including an imposing gatehouse with a drawbridge and corner towers. Despite multiple destructions during the Khmelnytsky Uprising and the Turkish wars, the complex was repeatedly restored. Inside, a courtyard well and remnants of decorative carvings are preserved. Near the castle stands a Renaissance church dating back to 1546. The castle gained fame in the Soviet era as a film set, most notably for the movie 'The Three Musketeers,' and today remains a popular destination for tourists and architecture enthusiasts.
