Podesinnia Regional Landscape Park (Ukraine)

Weather…

The Podesinnia Regional Landscape Park extends along the valley of the Desna River within the Chernihiv and Kyiv regions. It was established to protect one of Eastern Europe's best-preserved river valleys, notable for its natural dynamics and expansive floodplains. The Desna is one of the few large rivers in the region that has not been regulated by dams, allowing its natural course with numerous meanders and oxbow lakes to remain intact. These conditions support exceptional biodiversity, particularly in the wet meadows and floodplain forests that serve as sanctuaries for rare flora and fauna. Historically, the Desna basin was a center for early Slavic tribes, and its banks are rich with archaeological sites. Today, the park plays a central role in maintaining water quality and regulating the local climate. For visitors, Podesinnia gives vast landscapes for sustainable tourism and nature observation far from urban centers.
