The mountain's geology is characterized by resilient crystalline rocks and sandstone layers, resulting in rugged ridges and steep, dramatic slopes. The ecology of Baba-Ludova includes dense spruce forests in the subalpine zone and expansive alpine meadows at higher elevations, hosting rare flora such as the Carpathian crocus. Historically, the mountain has been central to the traditional Hutsul lifestyle, particularly summer pastoralism and folk traditions. As part of the Carpathian Biosphere Reserve, the area is protected for its exceptional biodiversity and pristine mountain landscapes. Hikers are drawn to Baba-Ludova for its remote beauty, offering challenging terrain and panoramic vistas that span across the border into the Romanian Carpathians.
