Pylypets is one of the most scenic and expansive mountain villages in the Zakarpattia region, positioned at the foot of the Borzhava alpine meadows. The crown jewel of the area is the Shypit Waterfall, a 14-meter-high cascade hidden in a lush forest gorge, which is particularly powerful in the spring. The village also has a remarkable 18th-century wooden church dedicated to the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin, an excellent example of traditional wooden architecture. In the winter, Pylypets becomes a hotspot for skiing and snowboarding, featuring one of the longest ski runs in Ukraine on Mount Gimba. It is especially famous among freeride enthusiasts who enjoy the vast, treeless slopes of the Borzhava range. During the summer, the chairlift carries hikers and sightseers to the ridge, where they can walk for miles across the blueberry-covered highlands. The area is also a top destination for paragliding and mountain biking, with a dedicated bike park offering technical downhill trails. Food in Pylypets reflects the multicultural history of Zakarpattia, with dishes like Bogrács (goulash), dumplings, and locally caught trout. The village is conveniently located just 15 km from the Volovets railway station, which has direct connections to Kyiv and Lviv. The best time to visit is during the summer for hiking and festivals, or in the winter for deep-snow skiing and cozy mountain hospitality.
