Shypit Waterfall (Ukraine)

Weather…

The Shypit Waterfall is located in the Ukrainian Carpathians, near the village of Pylypets in the Zakarpattia Oblast. The waters of the Pylypets River cascade down from a height of approximately 14 meters, flowing over the rocky ledges of the Borzhava mountain range. This natural monument was formed by the erosion of crystalline rocks and is fed by numerous mountain springs and melting snow. The name 'Shypit' is derived from the Ukrainian word for 'whisper,' referring to the characteristic sound of the rushing water that echoes through the valley. Since 1993, the meadows surrounding the waterfall have hosted an annual international counter-culture festival, peaking during the traditional Ivan Kupala night. Situated at an altitude of about 744 meters above sea level, it remains one of the most visited ecological landmarks in western Ukraine throughout the year.
