Kiyanly Polymer Plant (Turkmenistan)

Weather…

The Kiyanly Polymer Plant, located in the Balkan region on the Caspian Sea coast, is one of the largest gas-chemical projects in Central Asia. Commissioned in October 2018, the complex was built for approximately $3.4 billion and represents a milestone in the diversification of Turkmenistan's economy. The facility specializes in processing natural gas into high-value polymers, such as high-density polyethylene and polypropylene. It has an annual capacity to process 5 billion cubic meters of natural gas, yielding about 386,000 tons of polyethylene and 81,000 tons of polypropylene. The plant utilizes advanced technologies licensed from global leaders like TOYO, INEOS, and Lummus Global, ensuring high efficiency and environmental safety. The project was realized by an international consortium led by Hyundai Engineering and LG International. The products from Kiyanly are used in various industries, from packaging to automotive parts, and are exported to markets worldwide. This plant is a key pillar in Turkmenistan's strategy to transform from a raw material exporter into a producer of high-tech chemical products.
