Lancy is a significant city in the canton of Geneva and belongs to the dense agglomeration of the city of Geneva. It primarily consists of the two large districts of Grand-Lancy and Petit-Lancy, each having its own urban character. In recent decades, Lancy has evolved from a rural municipality into a modern economic center, housing both large industrial areas and modern office complexes. A striking landmark of the city is the Stade de Genève, the national football stadium, which opened in 2003 and regularly hosts international sporting events. Geographically, the city is bounded by the rivers Aire and Arve, whose riparian zones form important ecological corridors and recreational spaces. Urban planning places great emphasis on sustainability and the promotion of public transport, highlighted by the connection to the Geneva tram network and the new CEVA S-Bahn tunnel. Lancy also possesses numerous public parks such as the Parc de la Mairie, which provide a balance to the dense urban development.
